Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) was founded in 1968 but its history dates back to 1946 when Iligan City High School was established. The school was renamed Northern Mindanao Institute of Technology in 1965 and three years later it became a unit of the Mindanao State University as the Iligan Institute of technology.
The university is located in Iligan City, in the Northern Mindanao region of the Philippines.
There are seven colleges within the university: engineering and technology, science and mathematics, computer studies, education, arts and social sciences, economics, business and accountancy, and nursing.
There is also the Integrated Developmental School, which is part of the university¡¯s College of Education. The school is split into a junior high school and a senior high school and offers education to students between grades 7 and 12. The school specialises in mathematics and science.
Outside the classroom students can take part in the university¡¯s various extra-curricular activities. There are a number of arts, cultural and sports clubs that students can join as well as societies and organisations that help students develop their management, leadership, communication and social skills.
Throughout the year the university hosts a variety of events on campus aimed at enriching the student experience. These include conferences on female entrepreneurship in the Philippines and webinars on diversity in education.
