Middle East College is based at the Knowledge Oasis Muscat in Oman’s capital city, a 15 minute drive from the airport.
It was created in 2000 to provide Oman with a dedicated college of nformation technology.
Undergraduate courses are offered in engineering, business and management and archival skills. Most provision is in English, but the archives and records management degree is taught in Arabic.
Applicants with the best scores on the admission test can have up to 55 per cent of fees remitted.
Classes are spread across the Alkhwirizmi, Ibn Rushd, Ibn Khaldun and Al Khalil buildings on a campus which also has a student hub and a hostel for female students.
Areas of research focus include the internet of things, ‘smart city, big data’, data mining, fuzzy systems, biomedical engineering, and machine learning.
The college has affiliations with the universities of Wolverhampton and Coventry in the UK.
