One of the leading state-funded universities in the Phillippines, Catanduanes State University is a research-focused and coeducational institution with its main campus located in Virac city, on the island of Catanduanes.
It was established as the Virac National and Agricultural Trade School before being converted into a university in 2012.
It has established two economic zones in Catanduanes, which have served to vastly improve the region¡¯s wealth. Furthermore, the university is a several times award recipient for its green campus, eco tourism projects, and environmental initiatives, which is testament to its dedication to sustainable agriculture.
At present, Catanduanes State University offers 29 bachelor degree programmes, 13 master¡¯s degree programmes, and two doctoral degree programmes.
The university is divided into two campuses, with the main campus found in Virac, the largest city located on the south of the island. The main campus houses the Graduate School, and the Colleges of Agriculture and Fisheries, Arts and Sciences, Business and Accountants, Education, Health Sciences, Engineering, Industrial Technology and Information and Communications Technology. It is also home to the library, laboratories, such as the Agricultural Science Laboratory, and centres such as the Research Extension Program Centre designed to compound student learning and further develop areas of research interest.
