Aga Khan University was founded in 1983 as Pakistan¡¯s first private university. In 2000, the university began expanding its campuses to Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Afghanistan and the UK.
Beginning as a health sciences university, Aga Khan University is among the largest healthcare providers in Pakistan and East Africa with their research influencing health policy and practice all over the world. The university has developed its programme offering to include teacher education, Muslim civilisations, journalism, early childhood development and public policy.
There are over 20 student societies and clubs which include theatre, literary arts, surgery interest and the class representatives committee.
On its Pakistan campuses, the university offers an abundance of facilities and resources to its students including an audio-visual and learning centre, clinical setting rooms for problem-based learning, as well as the Aga Khan University Hospital.
