Times Higher Education¡¯s global Academic Reputation Survey?2022 has launched, with distribution being handled in-house for the first time.

The annual invitation-only survey of scholars has previously been carried out in partnership with Elsevier, receiving more than 10,000 responses each year.

This year, É«ºÐÖ±²¥¡¯s data team will run the survey and it will be distributed far more widely, with twice as many cited academics receiving the invitation. It will still be distributed to reflect the actual representation of scholars across countries and across academic disciplines. Invitations will be spread across a three-month period.

The survey results will help to fuel É«ºÐÖ±²¥¡¯s series of 2023 rankings.

In the survey, scholars are questioned at the level of their specific subject discipline and are asked to name up to 15?universities that they believe are the best in research and teaching, both in general and in their direct experience. The survey, which has been translated into 12?languages and typically takes 15?minutes to?complete, will close at the end of February?2022.

The headline results of the survey will be shared with respondents. More detailed analysis will then be published in the form of the É«ºÐÖ±²¥?World Reputation Rankings 2022. The survey data from 2022 and?2021 will also be used alongside 11?objective indicators to help create the É«ºÐÖ±²¥?World University Rankings 2023, to be published in October?2022, and all subsidiary rankings for?2023.

The survey also provides a uniquely rich picture of the changing global academic reputation of institutions to inform É«ºÐÖ±²¥¡¯s editorial analyses and data and analytics tools.

The survey is strictly invitation-only; universities cannot make nominations or supply contact lists, and individuals cannot nominate themselves for participation.
