Alan Finlayson, reader in the department of politics and international relations, has been awarded a grant of more than ?100,000 by the Leverhulme Trust to investigate how politicians speak.
Midwifery lecturers Susanne Darra and Marian Mclvor have been recognised with an award for excellence in midwifery education by the Royal College of Midwives, in the RCM’s annual awards.
Catherine Clarke and Helen Fulton in the School of Arts at have been awarded ?123,116 by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, to investigate how different communities lived and interacted in the English border town of Chester between 1200 and 1500. The one-year project, which begins in September 2008, will run in partnership with Keith Lilley from the School of Geography, Queen’s University Belfast, and Paul Vetch from the centre for computing in the humanities, King’s College London.
Sondipon Adhikari, chair of aerospace engineering in the School of Engineering, has been awarded a Philip Leverhulme Prize, which carries a value of ?70,000 over two years.
Martin Caraher, reader in food and health policy has been appointed as the Healthway visiting fellow based at Curtin University of Technology, Western Australia, throughout February.
