(Photograph) - The Tyne Bridge makes an unfamiliar background for Mongezi Noah, a lecturer from South Africa's Fort Hare University studying for a doctorate at Royal Holloway and Bedford New College, who presented his work on township taxi services to last week's Institute of British Geographers' conference at Northumbria University, in Newcastle. Mr Noah explained that taxi services mushroomed under apartheid as black workers rejected white-run, state-subsidised bus services.
