Edward Peck, a pro-vice-chancellor at the University of Birmingham, will take over at Nottingham Trent towards the end of the 2013-14 academic year.

Professor Peck, who is also currently head of Birmingham’s College of Social Sciences, tweeted on 20 December that he is “very much looking forward to joining Nottingham Trent University as VC next summer”.

He added: “2014 already shaping up to be an exciting year.”

Professor Peck’s tweet was made ahead of any official announcement by Nottingham Trent, which has said it will issue a statement in the New Year on his appointment.
