A single Internet access point for comprehensive information on Europe's national libraries was launched last week. GABRIEL (GAteway and BRidge to Europe's national Libraries) is a pilot World-Wide Web service which will build into a comprehensive online directory. Entries will be in English, French and German. GABRIEL will carry news of events activities and collaborative projects as well as service details.
The service is hosted and maintained by the British Library in London and mirrored on servers at Helsingin yliopiston kirjasto/ Helsinki University Library and Koninklijke Bibliotheek/ National Library of the Netherlands. Web users can access the service at and further information is also available by emailing gabriel@bl.uk
