Schools and universities planning to drop languages should consider that foreign companies need staff with knowledge of their tongues ("Languages come under threat", 色盒直播S , July 12). Such graduates have better prospects in research activities in French-owned services companies, in public utilities and railways, German-led industrial companies and in firms trading with non-anglophone regions of the world.
