Apart from plans to introduce massive top-up fees, Imperial deserves attention for its decision to confer its highest honour - fellow of the college - on a senior Singaporean government minister.
This is a government that imprisoned leaders of the Singapore Democratic Party for holding a Labour Day rally supporting freedom of speech, democracy and human rights.
Graham Watson, leader of the European Liberal Democratic and Reform Group in the European Parliament, recently condemned the increasingly intolerant one-party rule in Singapore.
Is this the type of honour that Imperial should have awarded? Am I alone in becoming concerned about the self-obsessed stance it is taking on current issues?
