Established in 1949, the University of Toyama in Japan is composed of three former national universities - Toyama University, Toyama Medical and Pharmaceutical University and Takaoka National College - since 2005. It is situated in central Japan in Toayama City and Takaoka City in Toyama Prefecture.
The university’s courses cover humanities, human development, economics, science, engineering, medicine, pharmacy, art and design, natural Medicine. The shortest course is four years long. Medicine and pharmacy take six years.
International students will have access to a six month Japanese education course where they can learn the Japanese language and get familiarised with academic and daily life in Japan.
The University of Toyama has three campuses: Gofuku (Humanities, Human Development, Economics, Science and Engineering), Sugitani (Medicine, Pharmacy) and Takaoka (Art and Design). It also has its own University Hospital. Toyama City itself is based on the coast of the Sea of Japan. The city has Botanical Gardens, a castle and a museum of modern art. Toyama is two hours away from Tokyo by train.
The 12 research institutes of UT collaborate with universities in the United States, Britain, India, Egypt, Australia, Thailand, South Korea, China, Brazil, Malaysia, and Russia.
Located in Toyama City and Takaoka City in Toyama Prefecture, which is located on the West coast, in the center of Japan. Toyama Prefecture is a local district with changes of the seasons where the Tateyama mountain range is in the south and Toyama Bay, on the Sea of Japan, to the north.
