对于 Schreiner University
Schreiner University is a private, liberal arts institution affiliated with the Presbyterian Church and located in the small town in Kerrville, Texas.
Charles Schreiner, a Texas rancher and philanthropist who spent three decades as the Kerr County Treasurer, established the institute in 1917 as the Schreiner Institute. It was initially a military institute, although it included academic curriculums in order to prepare students for further education.
In 1971 military training ended at Schreiner ended, and it became a four-year college. In 2001, the institution became known as Schreiner University in 2001, when it began offering master’s degrees for the first time.
Today this small university has a variety of programs available through the three major academic schools – the Trull School of Sciences and Mathematics, the School of Liberal Arts, and the Cailloux School of Professional Studies.
Over the years Schreiner University has developed a number of traditions, many of which are still a big university life. Generations of students have jumped into the Quad Fountain, filling it with bubbles under the cover of darkness. The President’s Breakfast is a monthly tradition where the Schreiner President invites students to join him for a casual, informal breakfast, while Town Hall Meetings involve the Student Government Association bringing the campus together to discuss university issues.
Among notable former students include American football players Winnie Baze, Raymond Berry and Tex Irvin, as well as former member of the Texas House of Representatives James E. Nugent.
