Pibulsongkram Rajabhat University’s history can be traced back to 1926 when the Phitsanuwittayayon School was established as a teacher training school. In 1933 a separate women’s teacher training department was founded as part of the Chalerm Kwan Satri School. Both institutions were combined in 1956 to form the Pibulsongkram Teachers College. In 1992 the college was renamed Rajabhat Institute Pibulsongkram. Twelve years later it was granted full university status and became Pibulsongkram Rajabhat University.
The university is located in Mueang District, Phitsanulok Province, northern Thailand. There are nine districts situated within Phitsanulok and Mueang is the capital.
The university consists of eight faculties: education, humanities and social sciences, management science, science and technology, agriculture and food technology, industrial technology, social sciences and local development and nursing. Within each faculty are a number of departments offering both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes.
Throughout the academic year, the university carries out a range of research projects. Research is published in several scientific journals including the Life Sciences and Environment Journal, the Journal of Industrial Technology and Engineering, and the Journal of Local Management and Development.
The Student Development Division oversees the various clubs and societies that the university offers and organises a number of events throughout the year for students to enjoy.
