Lovingly assembled by fans, it was housed at the Asbury Park Public Library, in the town where "the Boss" began his professional career, but has now grown too large for the available storage space. It took a four-year search to find a suitable alternative New Jersey location, combining public access with security, proper environmental controls and room for expansion.

But since the beginning of this month, nearly 15,000 documents from 44 countries have found a perfect new home in Monmouth, about five miles from Asbury Park.

The most extensive of its kind, the Bruce Springsteen Special Collection includes books, concert programmes, magazine and newspaper articles, and other printed ephemera dedicated to the careers of the singer-songwriter and his bands. It is hoped that film, recordings and oral histories can also be brought together in the same place.
