This 17th-century door was recovered from the gatehouse at Bath Spa University's Newton Park campus and is now on show at the institution.

Bath Spa acquired full university status in 2005, and Newton Park is the largest of its three campuses, set in a parkland estate designed by English landscape architect Lancelot "Capability" Brown.

The estate includes a lake, a nature reserve and woods, as well as the Michael Tippett Centre, named in honour of the English composer. It features a 14th-century castle tower, a Georgian manor house and new purpose-built concert hall facilities.

The gatehouse dates back to Norman times and once formed part of the original St Loe's Castle.

It was refurbished in 2005 in collaboration with English Heritage and now houses the university's BroadcastLab, a state-of-the-art media-teaching suite and post-production facility for students working in film, television and radio. It is a highly unusual example of a high-tech digital facility within a medieval building.

The door is displayed prominently within the building.
