This figure study by Norwegian artist Gry Hege Rinaldo was created from photographs, transferred on to paper through drawing and then reproduced on canvas with oil paint.

Most of her work is based on the nude form. This example aims to create a sense of entrapment by truncating the image and viewing it from above. The monochrome palette adds to a feeling of lifelessness.

From 1996 to 2000, Ms Rinaldo was a student at the Slade School of Fine Art, a part of University College London since 1868.

The UCL Art Collections hold more than 10,000 paintings, drawings, prints and sculptures, covering the period from the 1490s to the present day.

Highlights include watercolours by Turner and drawings and prints by Rembrandt and Van Dyck.

Alongside the work of the Old Masters is a unique archive of works by staff and students.

Augustus John, Richard Hamilton, Eduardo Paolozzi, Paula Rego, Stanley Spencer and many other leading figures in 20th-century British art are all represented.
