The digital transformation that affects all aspects of private and public lives and industry, the development of smart cities and the growth of the resilience of communities are the directions towards which Kaunas University of Technology research endeavours are focusing.

In Lithuania, KTU is the leader among research institutions by attracting funding from Horizon Europe, the EU’s key funding programme for research and innovation. The successful participation in the EU-funded projects expands the University’s partners network and provides us with excellent opportunities to implement the ideas from inception to the delivery of real products.

Electrical and electronics engineering, biomedical engineering and medical technologies, applied mathematics, food systems and biotechnology, applied medicinal chemistry, financial technologies, architecture, urban planning and cultural heritage are a few of the branches of research that scientists across the University departments are exploring in their work.

KTU maintains close links with the industry, offering more than 1,200 R&D services via its Open Access Centre, which operates as a one-stop shop for business and public organisations.
