From Darwin to Dawkins: The Science and Implications of Animal Sentience.

The conference will look at how the science of animal sentience affects fields ranging from zoology and farming to veterinary science.

The keynote speaker is primatologist Jane Goodall. March 17-18, Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, London.

British Sociological Association annual conference. The Life Course: Fragmentation, Diversity and Risk.

Subjects covered include ageing, body and society, the lived experience of class, individualisation and risk, food, eating and the life course and the fragmentation of youth. March 21-23, York University

British Psychological Society's quinquennial conference. Psychology for the 21st Century.

Keynote speakers include Robert J. Sternberg of Yale University on teaching creative thinking and Carol McGuinness of Queen's University, Belfast, on teaching thinking. March 30-April 2, Manchester Conference Centre.

Association of Art Historians' annual conference. Conception: Reception.

Includes a session on art history in the 21st century, asking how art history is taught beyond the UK, where it is going, what the implications for research and teaching are of advances in technology and the digitisation of images and what the impact of the increasing collaboration between teaching, museums and galleries has been.

March 31-April 2, Bristol University.
