University of Stirling Niall Bromage (senior lecturer) has been awarded a personal chair in reproductive physiology and endocrinology.

UNIVERSITY OF GLASGOW Fraser Davidson, senior lecturer at the University of Dundee, has been appointed to the chair of law; Michael Burton, lecturer in psychology at the University of Stirling, has been appointed to the chair in psychology.

GOLDSMITHS COLLEGE, UNIVERSITY OF LONDON Ivor Gabor (senior lecturer and founder of Sevenday Productions) has been appointed Britain's first professor of broadcast journalism.

UNIVERSITY OF ULSTER AT JORDANSTOWN Barry Fitzpatrick (holder of the Jean Monnet chair in European law and policy, University of Newcastle upon Tyne) second law chair from January.

Paul Teague (senior lecturer in economics) personal chair in industrial relations; Colin Thain (lecturer in politics, University of Exeter) chair in comparative public policy.
